Come join us for an evening dedicated to the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
The saddest day on the Jewish calendar is the Ninth of Av, "Tisha b'Av." It is the date when both our Holy Temples were destroyed, and exile, persecution and spiritual blackness began.

Tisha b'Av starts at sundown of the eighth of Av and lasts till the following nightfall.
"Chai Elul" – the 18th day of the Hebrew month of Elul; this year, Shabbat, September 27, 2011 – is a most significant date on the Chassidic calendar. The founder of Chassidism, Rabbi Israel Baal Shem Tov, was born on this date in 1698. It is also the day, 36 years later, on which the Baal Shem Tov began to publicly disseminate his revolutionary teachings

Yud-Alef Nissan is the Rebbe’s birthday. A birthday is more than a day for songs and celebrations. Instead, a birthday is a day when mazalo gover, the spiritual source of a person’s soul shines with power. When we say “the spiritual source of a person’s soul,” we mean something more than our conscious thought powers. We have our thoughts and our feelings. And then we possess an inner spiritual core from which those thoughts and feelings spring forth. This spiritual core is the mazal that shines powerfully on a person’s birthday.
