In preparation for the Jewish new year, children and their families will craft their very own ram's horn instrument, known as "Shofar" in Hebrew, at Chabad-Lubavitch's "Shofar Factory".
The children--with appropriate adult supervision--will help to cure, measure, saw, drill, and polish a real ram's horn to transform it into a working Shofar instrument. When the horns are complete, participants will learn how to perform the traditional sequence of notes sounded on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year.
Join us as Winn-Dixie and Chabad @ the Beaches invite families to celebrate faith, family and food this upcoming Passover holiday with a Model Matzah Bakery, Passover presentation and kosher tour of the store.
Activities include an interactive demonstration where children can make and roll their own matzah and learn about the significance of ancient Passover traditions; such as the grinding of the wheat, the pouring of the water and the kneading of the dough, for a hands-on experience they won’t want to miss.
This free event culminates with a guided tour of kosher offerings throughout the newly refreshed store to celebrate the holiday. Add Winn-Dixie to your family recipe.

Not your ordinary book club! The Jewish Kids Book Club teaches children the joys of Jewish literacy by identifying a theme or hero from a children's book. At bi-weekly sessions, we encounter Biblical heroes, Jewish folk tales and contemporary stories that illustrate a distinct theme in Jewish life. The message comes alive with discussions and a corresponding themed craft.
The books selected will focus on teaching values like charity, hospitality, kindness, being happy with what we have etc.
